Company today |

| |
A strong, specialized company
|
By constant innovation, concern for quality and a clear marketing
policy, the Schwarze company has retained its position as a market
leader.
In 1990, the company acquired the Schlichte distillery in Steinhagen,
which produces famous brands of alcoholic drinks that are sold in
Germany and throughout the world.
Since 1998, Schwarze is a shareholder of the Coca Cola Erfrischungsgetraenke
AG.
In 2003, Schwarze acquired several brands and a new bottling plant
in Rinteln on the river Weser. By this deal the Schwarze-group raises
its market-sales by a rate of 50 %. Additionally, Schwarze is acting
as a bottle-filler for other spirit-companies and so quadrupled
its bottling-activities.
In September 2003 Schwarze started a new corporation with the famous
"Kloster Andechs" in Bavaria. The Schwarze-group now bottles
and distributes the high-quality spirits from the so-called "Holy
Hill" of the monastry Andechs.
In 2004 the Schwarze-group is headed by an eleventh generation member
of the family. The Schwarze-group has a turnover of more than 50
million euro, employs 85 people and has now pursued its policy of
growth and diversification for nearly 340 years.

Key Dates of the Company's History |
 |
 |
| |
|
1664 |
In 1664, Joan Swarte, the name
was later changed to 'Schwarze', was a leading figure in the
city of Westkirchen near Muenster, in Westphalia. As well
as being a distiller and farmer, he was a collector of taxes
for the Elector of Westphalia and, as such, belonged to one
of the old upper class families who had already contributed
to the prosperity of Germany for many centuries.
During the Thirty Years' War (1618-48), Westphalia went through
many long, hard years but it still had its green pastures,
its tradition of horse rearing and its rich corn fields. The
countryside has many moated farms and centuries old castles
and the inhabitants of the region are known for their quiet
serenity.
Throughout the Holy Roman Empire, Westphalia was renowned
for its "Korn", a spirit made from grain, and it was in the
production of Korn that the Schwarze family concentrated its
activity.
|
1738 |
In 1738, one of Joan Swarte's
grandsons moved to Oelde and, two generations later, Hermann
Josef Schwarze bought the house at number 9 in the Herrenstrasse
where is now the headquarter of the company.
|
XIXth |
At the end of the 19th century,
distillation quotas were attributed to landowners according
to the extent of their property. This lead Wilhelm Anton Schwarze
to buy more land in the region.
|
1909 |
In 1909, Friedrich Schwarze,
the elder son of the ninth generation of the family, took
over the company, which was already one of the largest Korn
distilleries in Westphalia.
Briefly before World War I, he developed the company's trade
mark, the head of a revelling Westphalian farmer, which adorns
all Schwarze brands.
|
1951 |
Wilhelm Schwarze made the Schwarze
company a franchise-partner of the Coca-Cola Company Atlanta.
From then up to 1998 the Schwarze-family acted as a Coca-Cola
bottler in an important part of Westphalia.
