The Company Today

At present, the Group's activities are oriented towards two main industries.

DELAMARE BOIS :
Managed at present by François DELAMARE, a direct descendant of the founder, DELAMARE BOIS is still active in trading and transforming wood, whether it comes from France, Scandinavia or tropical countries (preparation of customized wood for individuals, local authorities and maintenance services).

DALAMARE SOVRA :
Managed by Philippe DELAMARE, this company is specialised in the treatment and manufacturing of consumables for surfacing ophthalmic lenses.

DELAMARE : permanent research into new products and solutions.

DEL CHARBON VERT : the environmentally-friendly fuel.

Anxious to contribute to the improvement of the environment, the DELAMARE Group has developed a concept of energy transformation of common industrial waste with its environmentally-friendly fuel formula: "DEL CHARBON VERT".
This new fuel, for which qualification standards have just been obtained at the Laboratoire National d'Essais, is undergoing tests on a site in the centre of France. The cost of calories produced from combustion, by a process which complies with environmental requirements, augurs a promising future.
It should be noted that all units equipped with "Del Charbon Vert" have created stable jobs.

Over 300 years after its founding, DELAMARE illustrates, day by day, its capacity to adapt its activity, its techniques and its products to today's industrial and commercial reality.

Key Dates of the
Company's History

1690

Wood: Delamare's core activity

As early as 1690, André Delamare, cartwright, was mentioned in local archives. At that period, a cartwright was a craftsman of many skills: at the same time blacksmith, sawyer and cabinet-maker. He had to be just as capable of building a cart, a coach or a stagecoach.
For several generations, the Delamare family carried on the tradition of working wood, over the centuries adapting the traditional activity to industrial progress thanks to innovation.

1975

Wood, plastics, technical packaging: diversification.

In 1975, under the management of Pierre Delamare, the Group got off to a new start when it bought the company SOVRA near Paris. Sovra was a company specialized in plastics and was to become the leader of the very specific market of industrial ophthalmics (surfacing of eyeglass lenses etc...).

At the same time, in order to satisfy customer needs, the Delamare Sovra Group developed an entire range of re-usable adhesives.
During this period, research done in the packaging sector resulted in the development of new products which led to the construction of a modern production unit.

1986

The company was awarded, on two occasions, in 1986 and 1988, the "Packaging Oscar".

1993

In 1993, the packaging activity was sold to an American group.

1995

A "Development and New Techniques" structure was set up at the end of 1995.
The Group moved into the recycling and transformation of industrial waste market.
