The BERETTA company |
is located in Lombardy, one of the northern province of Italy.
Was it the closeness of Venetia and the Republic of Venice as well
that facilitate the development of the arms factory, as demonstrated
by the very first orders granted to the company?
BERETTA is still established today on its historical site of Gardone
Val Trompia, and stretches over 75.000 square meters.

Thirteen generations after its creation, his direct descendant,
Ugo Gussalli Beretta, assisted by his sons Pietro and Franco, today
manages the enterprise. |
Five hundred years of experience have allowed the Fabbrica d'Armi
Pietro Beretta S.p.A. to advance with the times.
The company houses 1,000 machine tools, most of which are NCN milling
machines with tool magazines and interlocking robots.
The Beretta company's production covers almost the entire range
of existing portable firearms ; engraved over-end-under and side-by-side
shotguns for hunting, sporting and competition, autoloaders and
pump action guns, express double rifles, semi-automatic pistols
(from cal. 22 short up to cal. 45 Auto), sub machine guns, assault
rifles and light machine guns.
Since the beginning of the nineties, Beretta has been adding to
its production of sporting firearms a complete set of accessories
and garments for hunting, clay shooting and leisure, which have
shortly won an enviable reputation for their technical quality and
their sober elegance. In 1995, the first Beretta Gallery has been
inaugurated in New-York. More recently have followed other galleries
in Dallas, Buenos Aires and Paris. The next step will come with
the opening of the first italian Beretta Gallery in Milan.
Beretta - supplier to armed forces ...
For many years, the Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta has supplied
armed and police forces, not only in Italy but all over the world.
The United States Defense Forces - the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines
and Coast Guards, adopted the Beretta pistol 92 F, the side arm
of many State Police Departments in the United States. The French
Gendarmerie and Air Forcefollowed suit with the 92G model. In the
United States, the Federal Police and the US Border Patrol are using
the Beretta 96 Brigadier D, cal 40 S&W.
… and present in all world-wide sporting events.
With the production of sporting firearms representing 75% of the
total production (of which 70% is exported), Beretta is a fixture
in the rapidly expanding market of clay shooting, and plays an essential
role in a research product innovation and competitions. Beretta
competition guns have won more medals at the Olympic Games, World
Championships and international competitions than any other make
of shotgun. As in 1526, hard work, innovation and respect for tradition,
as well as constant research and up-to-date production methods are
the foundation on which Beretta has built up its reputation and
image of quality all over the world.
Today the company forms part of the Beretta Holding S.p.A. The group,
which is controlled by the Beretta family, is also composed of others
important arms manufacturers in Italy and abroad.

The Beretta dynasty was already active in the XVI century,

very closely connected with the history of firearms. The company
name is first mentioned in 1526, in the small northern italian
village of Gardone Val Trompia near Brescia, where it is still
established. Bartolomeo Beretta (born before 1498; passed
away circa 1565/68) ran the family business.
